I'm interested in forming a group of serious, non-fiction writers for Bergen County. We can meet up once a month and discuss outlines or read selections of drafts. Anybody who is currently working on a non-fiction article, essay or book should join. If we get enough members, then we can arrange various sub-genre groups -- academic writing, blogging, news, sports, feature writing. Don't write alone! Write with us.

As a published writer of non-fiction (essays, op-eds, books), I know the importance of networking with other writers to ensure we carve out time to write, as well as to critique each others' work. The mission of this group is to do both, whether we write about gay issues or not. The goal is therefore to build a supportive and accepting environment to share our work, and provide constructive criticism. You need not be a published writer...just LOVE TO WRITE!

Two of us - a gay male writer and a lesbian female writer - decided to create a group for LGBTs who are serious about their writing, and want to share their work in an environment that understands and celebrates LGBT literature. The purpose of the group is to support each other's writing endeavors through positive encouragement, thoughtful critique and celebration. The format is biweekly meetings during which we discuss the work of two or three writers, depending on length of submissions. We'll …

An ongoing group of writers that meets every Monday night at a restaurant in White Plains. Two people submit every week and the group reviews their work and discusses it at the meeting. Meetings are usually two hours. A writer will on average submit once a month. Before being admitted to the group, we require a writing sample. Any representative work will be fine. It doesn't have to be long.

… It’s a casual, non-judgmental group whose aim is to support, uplift and encourage. We’re also not picky about material. We welcome legit actors, musical theater artists, playwrights, fiction writers, poets, etc. Come with a piece you'd like to read or bring in your own writing to share. I only ask that you bring enough copies for everyone else who’s attending that day, since we don’t have a budget for copies. If you don’t have anything to read or perform on a given day, I usually have sever …

I want to form a community of writers who will meet weekly for inspiration, conversation or just group writing sessions. THE SPACE: A beautiful coffee house/ art gallery with plenty of …
